Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of endogenous growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) in which the native 44-amino acid sequence is conjugated to a trans-3-hexenoic acid group to enhance stability and half-life. It binds to the GHRH receptor (GHRHR) on anterior pituitary somatotroph cells.
Preclinical and clinical research has investigated Tesamorelin’s ability to stimulate pulsatile GH secretion and downstream IGF-1 expression. Studies have also examined its effects on visceral adipose tissue (VAT) reduction, lipid metabolism parameters, and its comparative pharmacokinetic profile relative to native GHRH and Sermorelin.
